Class Descriptions

The Centre at VitaZen Yoga classes are Hatha based Yoga. Hatha Yoga is a combination of movement meditation and mindfulness all connected to the breath. Quite literally Hatha Yoga is practiced to preserve and channel our vital life force. There are many styles of yoga which fall under the umbrella of Hatha. Here at The Centre, you should be able to find the class that meets your specific needs. Please check out the descriptions of class and don’t forget to read the levels, each studio has levels that are specific to their studio.

Ageless Yogis

Founded by Glenda Wynne who uses her experience as a Registered Nurse and Yoga Educator to bring the students a practice that helps increase and keep, strength, flexibility, endurance and balance. Ageless Yogis is designed with the “Boomers” in mind, but anyone who is looking for an anatomy-based class and wants to learn more about variations of poses, alignment, and building strength both in the body and mind can benefit from this class. Level 2-3

Morning Yoga

Kick start your day with yoga! Join us for a morning yoga that will wake up your body & mind. Get ready for the day & the week with this fun energizing traditional hatha yoga practice. This is a level 2-3 class. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 9:00am

Ageless Yoga on ZOOM

Evening Yoga

Hatha style yoga class. Hatha is the foundation of most modern yoga styles. Postures are taught with an emphasis on breath & alignment, an excellent way for students to explore holding poses and breathing. This is an all levels class. Monday & Thursday 6:00pm

Power Yoga

Come experience power and fun; this is about finding your inner-warrior. A traditional Hatha power class. Transform your body and revive your spirit. This is a level 3-4 class. Wednesday 4pm

Restorative Yoga

A class of passive yoga poses which are held for an extended period, supported by pillows, towels, blankets etc., and meant to encourage relaxation via the release of tension in the muscles and spine. We spend time in poses, listen to calming music, and enjoy the freedom of release. This is an all levels class. First Sunday of the month at 11:00am

Yoga Nidra

Nidra is defined as “Yoga Sleep” and is a method of inducing complete mental, physical and emotional relaxation. In this class there is very little movement. You may want to bring a blanket, eye pillow and anything else that helps you feel comfortable for lying on your mat for an extended period of time. Gentle Yoga

This is a gentle yoga class, based on traditional Hatha Yoga. Hatha yoga is the fundamental style of yoga that is the source of most modern yoga. This is a level 1-2 class. Tuesday & Thursday 11:00am

Chair Yoga

One of the gentlest forms of yoga available. It uses modifications of traditional Hatha Yoga to meet the needs of students who are unable to participate in regular yoga classes due to limitations. It is also one of the safest ways to start a yoga practice. Monday 1pm and Friday 11:00am

Saturday Salutation

Kick off the weekend with a come as you are class. This class is for all levels of yoga students to come together and be themselves. Saturday Salutation is taught by different teachers each week and depending on their personal style, you may flow, hold poses, learn breathing, meditation or a variation. You will leave this class with a steadiness that will last all weekend. This is an all levels class. Saturday 11:00am

Soothing Sunday

Slow down and relax this class is a gentle, mindful yoga class suitable for all to join us for a stress relieving class that stretches and strengthens the body, in a gradual way. This is an all levels class. Sunday 11:00am

Yin Yoga

We will concentrate on the connective tissue that surrounds the joints in the body. You will focus on holding poses, your breathing and observe your thoughts. This is an all levels class. Check the calendar for the date. $20 Sign Up Ahead

Yoga Class Levels Defined

Level 1- Beginner, designed for those who have had no previous exposure to yoga, but are eager to learn and start experiencing the amazing benefits of a yoga practice. A slow paced direction and great level of detail so they become familiar with the basic yoga poses and use of the breath.

Level 2- Experienced beginner, designed for those who have had some exposure to yoga, including an introduction to basic poses and proper alignment. The experienced beginner would like to explore their practice and become more familiar with the poses and the breath.

Level 3- Intermediate, designed for those who have a good understanding of the basics of yoga postures, and have begun to explore a wider variety of poses and styles. The intermediate student understands the relationship between breath and movement.

Level 4- Advanced-Intermediate, designed for the more experienced yogis with a solid understanding of basic postures and who are more comfortable trying new and challenging poses. The advanced-intermediate student practices yoga on a regular basis and has begun to master connection of breath with movement.

ALL LEVELS- Come as you are! All level classes are suitable for beginners, masters and everyone in between. These classes offer modifications so that you can customize your class to fit your specific needs and level of expertise. These class is NOT suitable for students with no prior yoga experience. Students with no prior yoga experience should look on our schedule for level 1 classes, private classes or our Yoga Basics Workshop.
